    First of all, I love this site, the Virginia “Wolf” pic is genius. But, forthe living people featured here, shouldn’t it be “What if Claire Goose WERE a goose?” rather than WAS? It’s been bothering me all week.

    Rhino. Thanks for your comment. I certainly spent the most time on Virginia but Mike Cat is still my favourite.

    To answer your question: yes and no.

    Formally it should be ‘were’ as its the subjunctive ‘what if’ were.

    I’d like to say that I was going for a more common, less formal use of ‘was’ to go with the flow, but really it’s a simple grammatical mistake.

    Well spotted. You win…nothing. But if you have a fantasy creature feature I’ll do it.
